Songbirds Club Observances
JOSEPH LANG:
I got back last evening from three days of Heaven. I was lucky enough to attend the Bing Crosby Conference that took place on Long Island at Hofstra University. It was great to see several Songbirds there, including Trudi Mann, Jeanie Wilson, and two participants, Buddy Bregman and Ben Sears.
Among the most prominent was our own Buddy Bregman, who had a personal and professional relationship with Bing that derived from his friendship with Gary Crosby. Buddy elaborated at some length about both aspects of his association with Bing. His contributions to the event were truly helpful in developing an appreciation of Bing as a person and a performer.
Buddy Bregman was ubiquitous, informative, and witty, and ran a couple of panels with the kind of gentle yet firm hand that have made him successful as a producer.
