NEVER ENOUGH
A story of selling one’s soul and its redemption. A story set against the music industry and the world of one-night jazz gigs in today’s LA. The story of a young white Generation X housewife named Darin O'Brien who wants, and, more importantly, who desperately needs a career as a jazz singer.
She loves her ex-pro-football player husband but she also loves her music. She cares for her daughter, but she also cares for the jazz world. She needs to bare her innermost thoughts to an audience who want to listen to what she has to say in song; and her special caressing of a note that changes an obvious simple meaning to one of deep mystery and supernatural fantasy.
Little daughter Brooke and her soccer team need her spirit. And the PTA meetings, and her day job at the law firm, and the - STOP ALREADY! Darin needs to feel accomplishment. Darin needs to feel whole. Darin needs success, at any price.
Darin attempts to balance both. But can't seem to without succumbing to the debasement of her inner soul. Darin's struggle with both ends of life's spectrum is our story. A story set against the recording world and world of one-night jazz gigs in today's LA music scene.
